Dan Neumann - Percussion Lessons

Subtitle

Lesson Information

I offer private instruction in all aspects of drum and percussion performance.  I usually recommend individual weekly 30-minute lessons, regardless of age or the instrument(s) being studied.  For any student requiring a longer lesson, I will make individualized recommendations to the student and/or parent. When my schedule permits students may schedule extra lessons - for example,  when they are preparing for an audition.

I utilize Smart Music, interactive music learning software that helps students practice music, get better faster, and make practicing more fun. It has accompaniments for more than 30,000 song titles, challenging exercises, and the ability to interact online with the student's school music teacher. SmartMusic is used by many schools in the area.

Location

Bongo's and Bud's Music Center     820 Main Street   Hopkins, MN 55343

Lesson Fee

$100.00 per month.  This averages out to 4 lessons per month.

Payment is due on the first lesson of the month. If you forget the check at the first lesson or you are not at the first lesson, please mail the check to me prior to the second lesson (I'll provide my address upon request).

Cancellations   I am aware that there are occasions when canceling a lesson may be unavoidable.  In such cases a make-up lesson may be available depending on schedule openings; I will do my best to accommodate schedule changes, but please try to keep them to a minimum.  If the lesson cannot be made up it will be forfeited. In the case of inclement weather you will receive credit for ½ lesson the next month.

  • Try to practice the same time and place each day.
  • Buy and use a metronome.
  • Practice slowly until you are comfortable with the lesson. Gradually increase the tempo.
  • Listen to all kinds of music.
  • Learn and practice rudiments.
  • Count the rhythm out loud.
  • Relax! Too much tension in the wrists will not help you get better.
